Director, Portfolio Strategy & Market Insights
The Director, Portfolio Strategy & Market Insights, is a member of the Global Commercial Strategy & Planning team and serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership. The role leads enterprise-wide investment governance, portfolio prioritization, and decision support to enable long-term growth. The Director also oversees the Market Insights capability, ensuring insights directly inform portfolio decisions, commercial strategy, and resource allocation.

The Director, Portfolio Strategy & Market Insights, is a member of the Global Commercial Strategy & Planning team and serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership. The role leads enterprise-wide investment governance, portfolio prioritization, and decision support to enable long-term growth. The Director also oversees the Market Insights capability, ensuring insights directly inform portfolio decisions, commercial strategy, and resource allocation.
Major Responsibilities:
Strategic Investment Decision Governance
- Leads the design and governance of enterprise-wide investment strategy and portfolio prioritization, shaping critical resource allocation decisions across R&D, capital investments and commercial initiatives to enable delivery of the organization’s long-range growth strategy.
- Partners with senior leadership to define investment trade-offs, ensuring alignment to corporate strategy, risk tolerance, and long-term value creation
Portfolio Decision Support
- Leads cross-functional problem solving on high-impact business challenges, defining strategic options and influencing executive decisions
- Challenges faced are often complex with significant ambiguity, requiring extensive investigation and analysis to recommend strategic objectives and alternatives
- Navigate complex matrix business environments and manage diverse stakeholders and their varying interests
- Comfortable with thinking outside the box and bringing unconventional ideas to the table
- Synthesizes complex analyses into clear strategic recommendations, influencing decision-making at the executive level
Market Intelligence, Insights and Strategy
- Maintain surveillance over competitive markets and identify organization strengths and weaknesses and business opportunities
- Sets the global vision and strategic direction for Market Insights, establishing an integrated insights capability that informs enterprise strategy, portfolio decisions, and commercial execution.
- Oversee key market intelligence and insights to provide commercial input to global strategic and regional plans and enable effective strategic, tactical and operational decision-making.
- Direct market research initiatives for insights to forecasting and strategic planning.
- Ensure insights are translated into actionable strategies that directly impact business performance and competitive positioning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Expertise in business strategy, financial analysis and modelling, decision support and portfolio analysis.
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, engineering, economics, or science with demonstrated expertise in financial analysis; graduate degree in business or finance preferred
- Typically requires 10-12+ years of relevant experience in strategy, finance, or corporate/business development role, including some experience in the vaccine industry
- Capable of clear communication of sophisticated analytical concepts
- Fluency in conducting and understanding quantitative analysis
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to communicate complicated data clearly and concisely
- Proven ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders
- Native-level fluency in written and spoken English
- Travel Requirements: Up to 20% domestic and international travel as required
