What You’ll Do At Elekta:
The Lead UX Researcher is responsible for leading hands-on user research and user testing activities to enable excellent user experiences (UXs) for Elekta’s hardware and software products. This includes leading usability testing for regulated medical devices and managing usability documentation, as part of the regulatory submission and approval process. Reporting to the Manager, UX Research, this role will collaborate closely with other UX Researchers and other UX&D teams - UX Strategy & Design, Industrial Design, UX Development - as well as stakeholders in Product Management and Engineering.

Responsibilities:
  • Leads and delivers hands-on UX research and usability testing activities for a large and complex product or a solution consisting of several products.
  • Takes holistic responsibility for the user experience of a product or a solution.
  • Defines usability strategy and leads its execution through to completion aligned with business targets.
  • Independently plans, conducts, facilitates and documents contextual studies, interviews, surveys, task and use error analyses, user reviews, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing.
  • Coordinates the prioritization of discovery and user-centred design activities within their responsibility area, in collaboration with the respective product manager.
  • Plans and facilitates workshops to tackle complex problems around user experience to enable decision-making and forward progress.
  • Leads concept exploration by testing early prototypes and wireframes that enable validation of product decisions.
  • Collaborates closely with product leaders. Networks actively outside the immediate working group to ensure wider alignment on the decisions.
  • Expert in regulatory usability requirements and usability engineering principles. Represents product usability in internal and external audits.
  • Manages subcontracted agencies for usability testing, including participant recruitment.
  • Instructs, coaches, and delegates work to other professionals, overseeing their performance and task completion.

What You'll Bring:
  • Master’s degree in human factors engineering, Human Computer Interaction, experimental psychology, User-Centred Design or equivalent learning/training.
  • Knowledge base acquired from 6+ years of experience as an individual contributor in human factors, usability, or UX research.
  • Experience working in the human factors/ usability engineering of complex regulated medical devices. Good understanding of medical device regulations and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including contextual studies, interviews, surveys, task and use error analyses, user reviews, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing.
  • Proficiency in leading concept exploration and discovery activities to support product management in defining the product direction.
  • Expert thought-leader with confidence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders and direct cross-functional alignment on design.
  • Experience guiding and mentoring design professionals both across and within functions.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and common workshopping tools (like Miro, FigJam, LucidChart).
  • Good understanding of Agile principles and Agile product development practices (Scrum, Kanban).
